Expanding and contracting in an antiphase (while the first spring expands, the other one contracts,) this design ensures better isochronism thanks to a much flatter effective torque diagram. According to the Swiss maker of expensive writing instruments, this is the first wristwatch that employs such a design. Previously it was used only in much larger maritime chronometers. Montblanc plans to produce the watch in a number of limited edition versions, including one in platinum 950 (pictured,) as well as in 18-carat white and rose gold.
